Did you know that Satan isn’t opposed to you being good, or having morals?
Let me repeat that – Satan is not opposed
to you being a good person. What he is opposed to is Jesus Christ and those who have accepted Him. But fellow Christians – do YOU
understand this?
Really, Satan doesn’t care if you think you’re
a good person, or in fact, if you ARE a good person. All your good works –
volunteering, being kind to a neighbour, having integrity - he doesn't care.
He cares how you follow Christ. If you bow
your knee to Him and acknowledge Him as your Saviour and Lord of your life.
Satan is the father of lies, the master of
deceit and deception. He gets a medal for having convinced us that morality is
on an equal level with spirituality. How
many of you think being a good person is the same as being Christian? You feel
you’re okay with God if you treat others well, and have managed to avoid the
big sins, and therefore your reward in Heaven is a given.
What a horrible lie, a lie that has misled
so many. Remember the Pharisees – poster children for impeccable morals,
following the law to the inth degree. Oh yes, they were respected because of
their religious devotion. What did Jesus call them? Read through Matthew 23 –
His absolute scathing scorn of them and their practices speaks volumes! He
calls them blind, hypocrites, fools.
Their morals weren’t bad, but they replaced
Christ. Morality can’t save you, but Christ can.
Satan is a trickster of the highest order,
adept at fooling good people into thinking they have no need of a saviour.
Do you fit into one of these categories:
An atheist who does good works, making him
feel good in himself and therefore has no need of God.
Or those who follow Buddhism – meditating,
doing no harm, feeling enlightened without Christ.
A Muslim who prays five times a day, but
not to Jesus, and still feels righteous.
Or, and probably even worse, an upstanding
Christian, moral, regular church goer, even tithes. And doesn’t see any need to
surrender to the Living Christ. (Side note, Buddha and Mohammed are dead – of what
help are they?)
Jesus saves, through Grace, through the freely
offered gift of salvation. “For by Grace
you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the
gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Eph 2:8-9 NKJV)
There’s no argument that you can be kind,
compassionate, generous, and respected if you’ve never accepted Jesus. But that
leaves you lost. You know, your soul is eternal, it is your choice where your
soul will reside for eternity – with Christ or separated from Him, forever, in
hell.
Imagine your shock at finding yourself in
Hell and trying to argue (too late) that you were an upstanding citizens, a
good parent, never broke a law – but you also NEVER accepted Christ.
All the enemy needs to do to accomplish his
goal is to keep you from that ONE thing that is of eternal value – accepting and
surrendering yourself to Christ. It’s so
easy for him once he gets you to trust in your own morals and good behaviour
instead of Christ’s sacrifice. And bingo, then you believe in your own works
instead of Christ’s finished work on the cross.
Satan wins. Morality and good works without
faith means he sees you in hell and smiles.
Please, this is serious – most people I
know, outside of my faith circle, see themselves as good people, and yes, I’d
agree they are. But they are missing out on one vital, eternity-changing piece.
Accepting Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
Is this you – take stock. You can’t rest on
your good behaviour. Your eternal future is not worth that kind of gamble – only
the precious blood of Jesus can wash away your sins, make you new and
acceptable to God. God, who wants NONE to perish, wants to gather you into His
arms when your physical life is over.
Don’t be distracted by Satan’s lies – his time
is short and these days he is scrabbling and scratching at so many under the
guise of feel-good emptiness.
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil
and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:7,8
NKJV)
In this moment – right now, you can make
the decision – and pray:
“Dear LORD Jesus, I know that I am a
sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and that
You rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and ask You not my heart and my
life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Saviour. In Your Name, I
pray. Amen”
I pray Satan will not be the victor in your
life.
In His name, with love,
Liz
